About Chhath

Chhath is a festival of worshipping the Sun, held on the sixth day of the bright lunar fortnight of Kartik. Devotees stand in rivers or ponds and offer arghya to the setting sun and, the next morning, to the rising sun.

It is celebrated mainly in Madhesh Province and the Mithila, Bhojpura and Awadh regions, and today also in Kathmandu and across the country.
